What piles surgery costs in Bangalore
The cost of piles treatment in Bangalore depends mostly on which procedure you need, and that depends on the grade of your piles. Clinic banding for early piles costs a fraction of surgery, while laser and stapler procedures cost more because of the single-use fibre or stapling device. Fissure and fistula procedures follow a similar pattern.
| Procedure | Indicative range (2026) |
|---|---|
| Rubber band ligation (per session) | ₹5,000–₹15,000 |
| Laser haemorrhoidoplasty | ₹45,000–₹95,000 |
| Stapler haemorrhoidopexy | ₹55,000–₹1,10,000 |
| Open haemorrhoidectomy | ₹35,000–₹70,000 |
| Laser treatment for fissure | ₹35,000–₹80,000 |
| Fistula surgery (fistulotomy, seton, LIFT or laser) | ₹40,000–₹1,20,000 |
These figures are indicative, for 2026, and vary by hospital, room category and case. Complex fistulas, staged procedures and MRI-guided surgery sit at the higher end or above. They are not a quote and do not represent any one hospital's tariff. Your exact estimate comes after examination at the consultation.
What is included in the package
Most Bangalore hospitals quote a package for planned piles, fissure and fistula surgery. A typical package covers:
- Surgeon's and anaesthetist's fees
- Operation theatre charges and standard consumables
- The laser fibre or stapler device, where used
- Room charges for the planned stay (day care or one night) in the chosen category
- Medicines, nursing and routine care during the stay
Usually not included: tests before surgery, an MRI or colonoscopy, take-home medicines, extra days in hospital, and treatment of unrelated conditions. Ask for the inclusions and exclusions in writing before you decide.
Factors that change the cost
- Procedure and technique: banding costs far less than surgery; laser and stapler add device costs.
- Grade and extent: large grade 4 piles, piles with skin tags, or piles combined with a fissure take more operating time.
- Hospital and room category: a single room raises the bill, and in many policies room category also affects how much insurance pays.
- Anaesthesia: local, spinal or general anaesthesia carry different charges.
- Length of stay: day care costs less than an overnight stay.
- Your health: diabetes, heart disease, blood thinners or other conditions may need extra tests, specialist opinions or monitoring.
- Staged treatment: complex fistulas often need a seton first and a second procedure later, each with its own cost.
Fissure and fistula costs explained
Anal fissure: most fissures heal with diet changes and prescription ointments, so the cost is often limited to a consultation and medicines. A botox injection, conventional lateral internal sphincterotomy or laser treatment is needed only for chronic fissures that have not healed. Laser treatment for fissure falls roughly in the ₹35,000 to ₹80,000 range in 2026, with conventional sphincterotomy usually at a similar or lower level depending on the hospital.
Anal fistula: the range is wide (about ₹40,000 to ₹1,20,000) because fistulas vary so much. A simple, low fistula treated by fistulotomy sits at the lower end. A complex fistula may need an MRI fistulogram, a seton first and a second procedure such as LIFT or laser a few weeks later, and the total for both stages can go above the range. Knowing the likely number of stages at the start helps you budget and plan leave.
Pilonidal sinus is priced in a similar way: abscess drainage costs least, laser or endoscopic treatment adds the device cost, and flap surgery depends on operating time and length of stay. See the pilonidal sinus treatment page for the options.
Recovery costs people often forget
The hospital bill is not the only cost. When comparing options, also think about:
- Time off work: from the next day after banding to two or three weeks after open haemorrhoidectomy.
- Take-home medicines: pain tablets, stool softeners, fibre supplements and ointments for a few weeks.
- Follow-up visits and dressings, especially after fistula and pilonidal surgery, where wounds are checked over several weeks.
- Travel: two-wheeler riding is usually avoided for a while, so plan for cabs to work and follow-ups.
Tests before surgery and their approximate cost
Not everyone needs every test. Dr. Sanjit Gogoi advises only what your case needs.
| Test | When it is needed | Approximate cost |
|---|---|---|
| Proctoscopy | Most patients, to grade piles | Usually done at the consultation |
| Routine pre-surgery blood tests and ECG | Before any procedure under anaesthesia | Varies by age and health; often a few thousand rupees |
| MRI fistulogram | Most fistulas, especially complex or recurrent | ₹7,000–₹12,000 |
| Colonoscopy | Warning signs, older age, family history of bowel cancer | ₹5,000–₹12,000 |
These are indicative and vary by centre.
Insurance and cashless treatment
Most health insurance policies in India cover medically necessary surgery for piles, fissure and fistula. A few points are worth checking before you plan:
- Waiting periods: piles, fissure and fistula are commonly listed as named conditions with a waiting period, often one to two years from the start of the policy. Check your policy document.
- Day care: many short procedures are covered as day care even without an overnight stay. Clinic banding may fall under outpatient care, which some policies do not cover.
- Room rent and sub-limits: some policies cap room rent or set limits on certain procedures, which can affect the final amount you pay.
- Cashless approval: the hospital's TPA (insurance) desk sends the estimate to your insurer for pre-authorisation. Approval depends on your insurer and policy terms.
Corporate group policies often waive these waiting periods, so if you work at one of the tech parks on the Outer Ring Road, check with your HR team.
Laser vs conventional surgery: is the extra cost worth it?
For selected grade 2 and 3 piles, laser haemorrhoidoplasty usually means less pain than conventional surgery for many patients, and an earlier return to work. If you are self-employed, or each week off work costs you, that can offset the higher device cost.
Laser is not the right answer for every case. For large grade 4 piles, or piles with big external skin tags, open haemorrhoidectomy is often more dependable, with a lower chance of recurrence. Paying more for laser in that situation may not buy a better result. Similarly, many early piles need only diet changes or banding. Read more on the piles treatment page, and for the other conditions see anal fissure treatment and anal fistula treatment.
How to get an exact estimate
An accurate estimate needs an examination, because the grade and type of the problem decide the procedure. You can:
- WhatsApp +91 99160 26256 with a short note on your symptoms and any reports, to plan the right consultation.
- Book a consultation at SPARSH Hospital, Sarjapur Road (10 am to 5 pm) or the evening clinic in Doddakannelli (5 pm to 8 pm), Monday to Saturday.
- After examination, Dr. Sanjit explains the recommended procedure, and the hospital provides a written package estimate based on your room category and insurance.
Patients come from Sarjapur Road, HSR Layout and Bellandur, a short drive away. For other procedures, see the hernia surgery cost page.
