A surgeon near HSR Layout
Dr. Sanjit, a General and Minimal Access (Laparoscopic) Surgeon, does not have a clinic inside HSR Layout. He consults on Sarjapur Main Road, about 9 km away, and patients from HSR travel to him there because the drive is usually around 25 minutes and does not mean heading into the central city.
People come from HSR Sectors 1 to 7, Agara, Haralur, Kudlu and Somasundarapalya. Many are working couples, often with parents living with them, who want one surgeon to see the problem through from the first scan to the last review.
Getting there from HSR Layout
Most people go via Agara and Haralur Road across to Sarjapur Road, or along the Outer Ring Road to the Sarjapur Road junction and then outwards. Traffic varies a lot by hour, so allow extra time in the evening rush and on heavy monsoon days.
- Evening, 5 pm to 8 pm: the clinic in Doddakannelli, 3rd Floor, SGR-2, Sarjapur Main Road, Doddakannelli, Bengaluru 560035. This is the nearer of the two.
- Day, 10 am to 5 pm: SPARSH Hospital, Sarjapur Road, #76, SY No. 26/7, Sarjapur Main Road, Carmelaram, Bengaluru 560035, a little further out along the same road.
Evening consultations after work
A first visit to a surgeon often gets postponed because it means taking leave. The evening clinic is there for that reason. You can come straight from work, with your spouse or parent, and leave with a clear plan.
Review visits after surgery can be in the evening too. If you would rather see the hospital where any operation would be done, or can come during the day, book a slot at Carmelaram instead.
What patients from HSR commonly see him for
- Hernias, often noticed after weight training, lifting a gas cylinder or a long bout of coughing. Most can be repaired through small keyhole cuts; see hernia surgery.
- Gallbladder stones, frequently picked up on an annual health check. Read about gallbladder stone surgery, and when it is reasonable to wait.
- Piles and fissures, linked to desk hours, low-fibre meals and constipation. Many settle with diet and medicines; others need laser treatment for piles or fissure treatment.
- Varicose veins, which can be closed from inside with laser or glue under ultrasound guidance.
Planned operations are done at SPARSH Hospital, Carmelaram, as day care or a short stay depending on the procedure and your health. More on the keyhole approach is on the laparoscopic surgery page.
What to expect at the consultation
Expect an unhurried conversation. Dr. Sanjit asks about your symptoms and any earlier treatment, examines you, and then goes through your scan with you, explaining it in everyday words. If you have not had a scan, he will tell you whether one is needed and which.
He then sets out the options side by side: surgery, medicines, diet changes or simply keeping watch. If an operation is the sensible choice, you get a clear idea of the keyhole approach, the hospital stay and how long before you can return to work, drive or go back to the gym.
After surgery you leave with a written recovery plan and a direct line for questions, and review visits can be booked in the evening at Doddakannelli. If you ride a two-wheeler to work, ask when it is safe to ride again. After most keyhole abdominal operations it is usually a week or two, once you can brake and turn without discomfort.
Before your visit
If you already have a scan, send a clear photo of it on WhatsApp to +91 99160 26256. The team can then tell you which consultation you need. On the day, bring:
- Any ultrasound, CT or MRI report, and the images on a CD or your phone if you have them
- Recent blood test reports
- A list of the medicines you take, especially blood thinners and diabetes or blood pressure tablets
- Notes or discharge summaries from any earlier surgery
- Your health insurance card or policy details, if you plan to use insurance
- A family member, if you would like a second pair of ears
